well, they sound better than anybody else. I was just at a show with both Crossroads and Vocal Spectrum, and I love Crossroads, which will probably win the quartet contest this year...and there was no comparison. Vocal Spectrum was head and shoulders over Crossroads in terms of balance, blend, brightness, energy. Vocal Spectrum is simply the best barbershop quartet in the world right now.
Crossroads will probably win the quartet contest this year? I thought OCT won the contest this year.
Anonymous, Michael was refering to this "barbershop" year which began the day after the Nashville competetion ended.
Since July of 2007, Vocal Spectrum has performed at over 50 shows in 20 states and coached at numerous HEP schools.
They also remain active as section leaders in the Ambassadors Of Harmony.
In September of 2007, Vocal Spectrum performed at the NZABS Convention and also visited Middle Schools and High Schools spreading the word of barbershop music in New Zealand.
In June of 2008, they had a 19 day tour of Japan where they gave numerous 2 hour long concerts, as well as numerous barbershop workshops throughout the country.
Vocal Spectrum has taken 2 missions trips to Mexico to teach church leaders and others about barbershop music.
They have also been actively working with youth in the St. Louis area, participating for the 6th and 7th time as clinicians and performers at the event "Acappelooza" with over 600 young men.
In addition to their chapter shows and youth outreach efforts, they have produced their 2nd album with new and original arrangements.
In the upcoming months of 2008, they will be performing on a barbershop cruise in Hawaii. They have also been very influential in creating the new affiliate organization in Spain - SABS. Vocal Spectrum will be giving 2 performances in Madrid in December at the opening of the SABS barbershop affiliate to the Barbershop Harmony Society.
In 2009, Vocal Spectrum will be performing at numerous chapter shows, and in other nations including Sweden, Australia and New Zealand.
